Wish List Wednesday

So, the furniture in our lower level is absolutely hideous!  The couch and chair were given to us by my parents about 5 years ago.  Since then, they have been pretty much destroyed by Relay.  The chair has dog hair embedded in it and the couch does not have any legs because they were lost in one of the moves.  They are just plain sad looking.  So....here is what I want for our basement.  Wouldn't this look nice down there? :)

Daddy's Track Meet

Last night we went out to Chad's track meet.  We didn't stay for very long, as Payton was getting hungry and cold, but we managed to cheer on the Bobcats for about an hour or so.  The team ended up getting 3rd place - way to go Bobcats!  We are looking forward to going to their next home meet next Thursday.  Maybe we can stay a little longer next time :)

8 Months Old

Last week Payton was 8 months.  I decided I'd write a little something to let you know what she's been up to, her likes/dislikes, etc.  So... here goes:
  • Loves to pull hair, earrings, drawstrings on sweatshirts, basically anything she can get her hands on :)
  • Getting better about eating pureed food.  Pretty much hated it at first, and it seemed to take FOREVER to get her used to it, but is doing so much better now.  Some of her favorites include bananas, applesauce, and sweet potatoes.
  • Rolling over all over the place.  Not crawling yet, but tries really hard.  We put her down on a blanket on the floor and then put a toy in front of her.  We cheer her on to go get the toy.  Well, the little stinker cheats and just pulls the blanket toward her in order to get the toy :)
  • Just moved up to Size 3 diapers on Sunday!
  • Loves all her friends at daycare.
  • Jabbers ALL.THE.TIME!  Especially during the silent prayer at church :)
  • Has been saying more consonant sounds, and I think she has said "Da-da" a couple times.  Of course, she has no idea what she's saying :)
  • Really enjoys bath time.  Loves to have her hair washed (just like her mommy)
  • Is the best snuggler EVER!  I just love it when she puts her head on my shoulder after a bottle and "coos" herself to sleep.  This is one of the best feelings in the world!
  • Seems to get sick quite a bit.  I know everyone says that the first year is the worst, but man, it seems as if we live at the doctor's office.
  • Has been working on her two bottom teeth for about a month now.  They come up and then go back down.  I wish they would just come up and stay up!
  • Has a smile that melts our hearts!

Dying Easter Eggs

Here are some pictures from our egg dying experience.  My friend Jill and her son Fletcher came over the other night to dye eggs.  We had some good laughs - espcially at Fletcher's poor, poor egg :)

Friends

Tuesday night I had some of my gal pals from school over since Chad was gone at a track meet.  Here is a picture of my teaching partners Jennifer and Teri's kids.  Landry is Jennifer's daughter and Sam is Teri's son.  Aren't they cute? :)

Good News!

I apologize for not posting this sooner, but things have been hectic around here.  We had our appointment with Dr. Menezes in Iowa City in Wednesday and it was good news!  We literally only met with the doctor for maybe 5 minutes.  Of course, we waited out in the waiting room for about 15 minutes and then in the actual doctor's office for about 30 minutes.  But the wait was worth it to hear that everything was ok.  The doctor came in, introduced himself, looked at Payton's hands and feet (he later told us he was checking for genetic markers), and then said to us, "Take your baby home and enjoy her."  Which is exactly what we intended to do :)

Unfortunately, that night Payton woke up in the middle of the night and wouldn't go back to sleep.  She wanted to be held and wouldn't let us put her down.  Chad and I took hour shifts staying up holding her.  By morning, she was just burning up with a 103.8 fever.  I got her into the doctor around 1, and they diagnosed her with bronchilitis.  So, she has to do breathing treatments with a nebulizer every 4 hours.  She actually does pretty well with the treatments.  I think the medicine makes her feel so much better.  Poor baby!

We were supposed to meet some of my friends tonight for pizza in Colfax, and I had to cancel. Payton is feeling lots better today, but still sounds very wheezy and is contagious.
